‘Hwanhee Boys’ MYNAME(Seyong·Insoo·JunQ·Chaejin·Gunwoo) have safely made it in the entertainment industry.
They released their latest single ‘Message’ which matches their individuality, and they have been receiving attention for their synchronisation and perfect live abilities. Coming out in the midst of all the idol groups, they have also been acknowledged as the ‘team which shows personality’. Before their successful debut, there was singer Hwanhee, who is a senior in from the same agency. Without a doubt he directed their whole album, and he even meticulously helped in their debut from the styling to choreography. Even on the morning of his enlistment into the army, he visited them in the practice room to give advice not as a senior, but as a brother. That’s how fond he is of them.
MYNAME said “As much as we are known as the idols who Hwanhee sunbae raised, we also feel very pressured by it. We will work hard so that we can give strength to our big brother who is serving the military.”
-Debuting on the day of Hwanhee’s enlistment.
“We were recording together up till the morning of his enlistment instead of a farewell party. We wanted to follow him all the way to Nonsan training center, but he stopped us, telling us to practice as our debut is right under our noses. Since we are knwon as ‘Hwanhee Boys’, we will work hard in order not to embarrass hyung.”
-What you learned from Hwanhee.
“We think he is the best vocalist. He personally overlooked all the directing, and was especially detailed in the vocal parts. He even gives us a lot of advise. One that is memorable is ‘Always be humble, and thinking you will do well is dangerous. But do not lose out to anything.’”
-What is the meaning of MYNAME.
“It means ‘To give our all in the entertainment industry with our name’. We discussed this for a long time, and came up with embarrassing names such as FBI and Nuclear, before we settled on this one. Haha.”
-Title song ‘Message’.
“It’s a song about the messed up emotions of a person who sent a text message to his loved one, and is awaiting a reply. The highlight in the lyrics is the part that goes ‘Don’t ignore my message, please don’t ignore my message’. Lately while using Kakaotalk, you definitely get notifications, so there aren’t many times you don’t receive a message. It’s a song that youngsters can relate to. The beat is strong and the dance is dynamic. We even prepared a significant part in the choreography which you can remember even if you watch it only once.”
-We heard your handphones were confiscated.
“The company representative kept them and said we could have them back if we get #1. The leader holds onto the group’s phone which only has our parents’ numbers and the company’s number. We use it only when we really need to, so there is no big inconvenience. We also deleted out minihompy early. All of us were obedient students, so there was nothing much to delete.”
-There are no discomforts living together.
“Our dorm is in Itaewon. It’s difficult to clean up, we regularly clean up so that every member is in charge of an area. If someone makes a mess in an area, he gets a penalty which is different each time. In the summer, we shoot ice-cream. They gave us a credit card at the agency at night to buy them to eat.”
-The senior you want to resemble.
“2PM is my goal. I first met the hyungs while I was training at JYP. While training, I had a sudden greed for acting, so I left the company and had to say goodbye to them. But I saw how they were on stage when I went for the 2PM concert, so I wanted to sing again. That’s the reason I got into MYNAME.”(Seyong)
